Feel like you’re stuck? In a rut? Feel like the person you want to be is eluding you?
Proverbs 13:20 says He who walks with the wise grows wise.
Here are 7 great reasons to step into community, and why growth happens best in community.
1.
Someone to care for your needs

I remember when we lost my Dad after a long battle with a degenerative disease. I tell you, it’s an incredible feeling to know that there are people who are just a call away who are ready to take care of anything we needed back at home. (pick up kids, break the news, watch the house, drive to airport, pick up from airport, etc etc etc)
2.
Someone to clear your path
Every one of us is going to face obstacles on the way to achieving our dreams. Sometimes the thing staring you in the face is going to be too much for you to handle but no problem at all for Andy. Call Andy. Get his help! No brainer.
3.
Someone to cover your back.
Have you ever tried to make a lane change only to hear a squeal and the angry honk of a horn? It feels terrible. That’s why it’s so important to have people in your life that are willing to help you see things that you normally wouldn’t see. Everyone has blind spots! Even you! Get someone in your life willing to press through your over productive confirmation bias and pull out the truth!
4.
Someone to enlarge your perspective
Some of the people I love most in my life are the ones to drag me into new experiences that I would never have even thought of trying before! (Don't get any ideas...). In 2013 I took up running and have found it to be one of my favourite ways to spend my time. I still remember Wendy Manning trying to drag me out on runs while in High School! Should have listened to Wendy back in High School!

5.
Someone to give you heart
Sometimes the only thing you need to persist in spite of fatigue, frustration or failure is someone on the sidelines cheering you on! On my first half marathon I was unceremoniously passed by a short girl dressed all in black. Nothing about that would have been odd or peculiar on that day ( I was passed by a LOT of people) but she shouted out a quick word of encouragement that made my day! (or at least got me through the next few miles)
6.
Someone to increase your value
What is it in your life experience that has added the most value. Is it a decision you made, or an experience that you got? I’m thankful for all the people who invested in making me a better person than I was or would have been if it wasn’t for their intentional investment of time, and resources, and wisdom. Who are the people around you who have something that could add a huge amount of value to your life?
7.
Someone to receive your investment
You don’t have to look far to see that the people all around you are either on the way to the dump or on the way to their dreams. Sometimes the difference is one conversation over breakfast that propels a person in a whole new direction or gives them strength to finish what they started. Who is the person in your life right now that most need someone like you to care about what’s going on in their life, or to help them with an obstacle, or to help them see an opportunity that they’ve been missing?
What can you do today to step into a deeper more enriching community?
